Certified Peer Support

This person-centered recovery program focuses on advocacy, education, linking, building relationships and creating a natural support system. It is provided to those who use or have used behavioral health system services.

Certified peer specialists model coping skills, foster resilience and assist in identifying strengths and areas in need of improvement. Goals are identified and a supportive plan is developed.

Certified Peer Support services are based in the community and utilize available community resources. All individuals, regardless of disability, deserve the right to proper support so they can grow. Individuals seeking services are actively involved in all areas of their recovery.

Certified peer specialists have obtained state-managed certification and continue their education to provide:

  • Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or Psychiatric Advance Directive
  • Crisis support and prevention of hospitalization, incarceration and emergency services
  • Community resource coordination
  • Work and education support
  • Coping and life skills help
  • Connections to substance abuse services
  • Housing assistance
  • Fostering positive relationships with self and others
